Psylock utilises this uniqueness by drawing up a keystroke profile that clearly identifies the user. If there is a match with the cited user name, that user is granted access, otherwise access is denied.

The user authenticates himself by entering his user name and personal keystroke sample. Authentication is based on the matching of this sample against the profile already stored in the system. With the ability to recognize a user based on his individual keystroke pattern, the problem of account sharing is minimized.

Because a user's keystroke dynamics will change over time, Psylock utilizes every new sample entered to update his profile.
